I have checked for diabetes, but the doc said i’m not diabetic. I’m guessing i am thirsty all the time because i urinate so much. I literally have to go after i just went.

I see on TV they suggest its prostate, but i’m only 23, could it be that? Thanx

I am a 22-year old male. I have had frequent urination for about 1 month. I have been to the doctor and I do not have a UTI, my kidneys are fine, prostate is fine, and my physical was normal. I would like to know how I can go back to normal function. My symptoms include using the restroom every 3-5 hours, feeling like there is urine in my urethra at times, and increased sensitivity in my genitals. I had severe discomfort in what felt like my bladder for about 8 days and then the discomfort left. I had a CT scan and I do not and did not have kidney stones. No burning during urination and no blood in the urine. No stomach pain. Have slept through the night without urinating for approximately 2 weeks. Diabetes test was negative, but my sugar level was slightly high. Does anyone have any idea what I could possibly have?
I drink anywhere from 40oz to 80oz a day. I’ll have 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning and then drink water the rest of the day. I do not drink alcohol or soda. With dinner I might have 1% milk or crystal light ice tea.
Blood Pressure was 120/60, pulse was 54 bpm, urine is clear most of the time and there is no odor.
Is it possible I have an STD?

Did the doc check your ADH (vasopressin) levels? Was your BP ok? Is your urine clear most of the time?

You mentioned your blood sugar was slightly high. Could be pre-diabetes mellitus. Take action… Buy a cheap glucose monitor or borrow a friend’s. Test your fasting blood glusose (BG) levels, then eat a snickers bar and test every 30 minutes until you’ve tested a total of five times. Your BG range (if normal) should look like ~90 to ~140. It should peak around an hour. Hope this helps.

After one of many intense bike rides, I felt a burning sensation in my pelvic area and an excessive urge to urinate. I have experienced these symptoms after periods of vigorous exercise but they always subsided.
(I also have an inguinal hernia that hasn’t been repaired.)
This time, in addition to the burning sensation, I also experienced mild soreness around my hip. I also had a fever for one night only. A few times I experienced mild (kidney?) stones.
I stopped riding the bike, started drinking cranberry juice, and saw palmetto/nettle.
Since then, all symptoms have gone except for the more frequent than usual urination especially after drinking wine &and possibly tea. I never had a problem with wine before.
I also feel drier and more thirsty during or after the night.
My GP ruled out diabetes and didn’t find a UTI, even though I was sure I had one. The prostate seemed fine after a DRE, and the PSA seems OK. I still get up several times at night to urinate. I am 50+.

Sounds like you have urge incontinence from an overactive bladder or previous bladder infection.. I had the same, and still have to wear protection. I visit a urologist often. There are meds for it now, but don’t want to take any more. I am careful not to drink certain fluids that don’t allow me to hold it when I get the desire to go. My PSA is about 6.5 and has been steady. I am 58. I had all the tests including biopsies.

Im 21 male and have to frequently urinate , every night i always have to get up atleast once to go. I had a ultra scan for a different problem and it revealed that i had a larger prostate for someone who was 21. What could be the reasons for that?

I usually have to get up once or twice in the night to go to the bathroom. Very seldom can I sleep all night without getting up. I think its quite normal to get up to use the bathroom. The only way to really combat this, is don’t drink anything about two hours before bed time.

Hi im in need of a little assistance here before I have time to get to the doctor later this week.

Im 21 years old, male, and about 30 pounds overweight. Despite being overweight for most of my life i’ve always maintained very good health. Recently, however, ive began to feel like there may be something wrong.

Within the past 6-8 months ive had random spurts of experiencing frequent urination. Its off and on, and has occurred maybe 10 times in the past 6 months or so. When it comes, it tends to only last for a few days. During this time I get extremely and frequent sensations to go to the bathroom. Going to the bathroom is normal and doesnt hurt or anything, but its just weird to have to go ALL the time. Yesterday, for instance, I did drink a good amount of iced tea for dinner (4-5 full cups) but shortly after dinner I got an extreme and sudden urge to go. I ended up getting that urge 2 other times within the next half hour, and one more about an hour after that.Going to the restroom 4 times within 90 minutes following a meal seems very unusual to me.

I do have a few of the other symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes to go with frequent urination, so im thinking it could potentially be that. Or something related to an enlarged prostate maybe?

Any help or ideas you could provide is greatly appreciated.

At your age, it’s probably not type I diabetes, but could be type II (adult onset). Your weight could have contributed to this (I’m a type II diabetic).

It’s entirely characteristic of this that it comes and goes, at least for now.

Why not get your blood sugar checked? Just to make sure? And don’t just do this one time.Perhaps your physician will prescribe a glucometer. It’s really not painful at all to check your sugar once a day. (Some folks area bit apprehensive, but once you get used to it, no big deal at all. It’s almost entirely painless.)

Please, see your physician and get this checked. It’s not a big deal unless you let it go, but if you let it go, the damage is irreversible.

on and off for about 6 years i have had occasional frequent urination with no side effects. Sometimes I will go full strength and a full amount just an hour or so after the last time. Sometimes I feel that I havent voided completely after going. Sometimes I feel this pressure in my bladder/urethra.
I am a healthy 32 yr old male. All tests..i mean ALL..cancer, IC, all stds, etc etc even prostate. ALL NEGATIVE. Diabites as well- negative..
Anyone have similar symptoms or any clue?? They say anything more than 8x a day is too often. I rarely reach that, but this weekend- I just cannot stop going!! No increase in fluid intake either..

There isn’t anything like 8 times I can recall offhand. Is it that you are spending time in an area where it is cold. Maybe the air-conditioning is turned up more than it suits you, for that is another cause of frequent diuresis.

Cold temperature causes constriction of our blood vessels of the skin, the total area of which, and the volume of the blood they contain, is considerable. This constriction channels the blood into our deepr systemic circulation to maintain body heat and prevent loss of it through the skin. This causes increased filtration by the kidneys since the body senses an increased load. We do not have to take more fluids to experience this. This is one factor likely.

Another is NGU and cyctitis. There are organisms that aren’t picked up by routine tests and cultures. Chlamydia mainly. They may present with mild discomfort at micturition or none at all. Sometimes they may present with severe dysuria.

Further, frequency, or frequent passage of urine could ensue.

These are two possibilities.

If your doctor has determined that you do NOT have prostate cancer, but have a large prostate, what causes this to happen in the first place? I am aware that frequent urination is a main sign of an enlarged prostate, but what causes the prostate to grow in the first place?

My doctor says he is not worried about it, but something is causing me to go more than normal. I’m only 32 so prostate should be out of the question. Any suggestions?

Urinating too much liquid ("polyurea") needs to be distinguished from the slightly different symptoms of excessively frequent urination, urinary dribbling, or unusual urgency to urinate. Urinating too much fluid or urinating too often can indicate several serious medical conditions. Some possibilities include urinary tract infections, bladder conditions (e.g. interstitial cystitis), or prostate conditions (e.g. BPH). Also possible are metabolic conditions such as Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, or diabetes insipidus. Seek prompt professional medical advice about urination symptoms

These are just a few diseases or infectios that could cause your problems. You did not say if you was drinking water excessively. If so maybe Diabetes Insipidus. Not related to diabetes….
