22 year old male with frequent urination with test results negative. What could I have?

Posted by admin on Nov 30, 2009 under Prostate Cancer Frequent Urination

I am a 22-year old male. I have had frequent urination for about 1 month. I have been to the doctor and I do not have a UTI, my kidneys are fine, prostate is fine, and my physical was normal. I would like to know how I can go back to normal function. My symptoms include using the restroom every 3-5 hours, feeling like there is urine in my urethra at times, and increased sensitivity in my genitals. I had severe discomfort in what felt like my bladder for about 8 days and then the discomfort left. I had a CT scan and I do not and did not have kidney stones. No burning during urination and no blood in the urine. No stomach pain. Have slept through the night without urinating for approximately 2 weeks. Diabetes test was negative, but my sugar level was slightly high. Does anyone have any idea what I could possibly have?
I drink anywhere from 40oz to 80oz a day. I’ll have 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning and then drink water the rest of the day. I do not drink alcohol or soda. With dinner I might have 1% milk or crystal light ice tea.
Blood Pressure was 120/60, pulse was 54 bpm, urine is clear most of the time and there is no odor.
Is it possible I have an STD?

Did the doc check your ADH (vasopressin) levels? Was your BP ok? Is your urine clear most of the time?

Other causes of frequent urination: caffeine, alcohol, diabetes insipidus http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/d/diabetes_insipidus/intro.htm

You mentioned your blood sugar was slightly high. Could be pre-diabetes mellitus. Take action… Buy a cheap glucose monitor or borrow a friend’s. Test your fasting blood glusose (BG) levels, then eat a snickers bar and test every 30 minutes until you’ve tested a total of five times. Your BG range (if normal) should look like ~90 to ~140. It should peak around an hour. Hope this helps.

Frequent Urination (60+ times a day) and IBS?

Posted by admin on Nov 6, 2009 under Prostate Cancer Frequent Urination

I’m 27 and have been struggling for several years with frequent urination that ultimately leads to insomnia (I believe it is labeled as “nocturia”). I ignored this problem for most of my life and passed it off as a weak bladder, but I soon realized that no matter what changes I made in my diet or beverage intake that my problem was the same if not worse. I’ve seen a dozen doctors/urologists with no help, and now the root cause is more of a mystery than before. I’ve been cleared from having diabetes or enlarged prostate..so I am lost now! Since my guess has been as good as anyone else’s to this point, I’m even more desperate in making progress to improve my health condition. I also have urges to go #2 only at night several times along with the frequent urination. When I void urine at night, it is usually in small amounts, but I NEVER stop going! I am not exagerating when I state that I have recorded going over 60x/a day. Even if I don’t drink barely anything. Any thoughts
Thanks for the reply all. I have gotten just about every test under the sun, and thank god they found nothing wrong, but still no suggestions. Someone recently said I might have nuerological damage? Anyways I have had blood tests, urine tests, ultra sound of my bladder (as if i was pregnant), a camera up my penis! ouch. A "emptying test", apressure test, a psi test of my flow, etcetcetc. I am thinking about an MRI. I honestly go to urinate about every 3 minutes. No joke.

If you are constipated, then BM can block your bladder from allowing urine to flow properly? IBS is linked to spastic bladder ("gotta go, gotta go..etc)…sometimes they give antispasmotic patches or pills (ie Detrol or Detrol LA) for that. Diabetes insipidus is a pituitary condition where people have to urinate a lot at night….they give vasopressin spray in nostrils for that. IBS is also linked to fibromyalgia (not sure that it would account for any of this).

Did the urologist do a urinalysis for infection and blood in the urine? Did the urologist do a urine cytology for cancer cells? Did the urologist do a catscan for urinary stones or cancer? Did the urologist do a PVR (post void residual ) test?

whats causing this frequent urination condition?

Posted by admin on Sep 30, 2009 under Prostate Cancer Frequent Urination

Hello, I’m a young man in my 20′s and i have a frequent urination condition. My prostate is not enlarge and i’m not diabetic. I will urinate both days and night very often. Sometimes when i urinate, i have to wait for a few second for the urine to come out and lots of times not a lot urine comes out. Further to the frequent urination condition, my erection has weaken. I can have an erection but not for long. Thank you for your understanding. You can email me as soon as possible.

Both of those symptoms indicate a weak PC muscle. This muscle is responsible for both starting and stopping the flow of urine as well as erection strength and holding power.

Fortunately, performing PC exercises (also called kegel exercises) will improve your PC muscles greatly.

As for the issue of over urination, see a doctor as this may be a separate health issue.
